this is the Apple Watch series 10 what Apple calls as thintastic classic and what I'm going to call us probably the best Evolution this product has seen in years even if it's not easily noticeable for context yes this is 10 years of Apple watch and sure we heard the changes were major some called for flat rail since like three generations ago and that bands would attach differently to save space heck we even heard of microed screens being considered but no none of that happened and yet listen I'm glad it didn't I know it sounds like if I'm trying to defend iteration but uh that would be a huge oversimplification of what the approach here is for this watch see even if looks might remain

similar this watch actually seems to say that you no longer need to buy an ultra to get a ton of the best features I'm him r with pocket now and let me explain to you why in our extended review first let's talk about the concept of change when it comes to any or every time piece like seriously when was the last time that Casio or Seiko and other watch makers changed the way you attach the bands to your watch never right surely design variety is what lots of watch makers have focused on and uh that I do feel Apple should consider but in everything else I'll be honest I wasn't expecting this watch to change much from what we had before instead I think the

easiest way to see it is that uh 2 years ago you had two choices Apple watch and typical material variations and Apple watch Ultra the idea of going for the beefier model was technically to serve a more demanding crowd people who wanted additional layers of durability extra battery life and a GPS that was Better Built for rough scenarios what ended up happening though is that more people drifted to it because of its newer design and larger display even if they didn't really take it to the trail hike that it was actually intended for it was clear that people were willing to pay extra for the novelty and size and yet Apple's response is to give people those extra benefits at a lower cost see Apple

Watch series 10 is almost like if you married an ultra with a series 9 but then you put them both on a diet and bestowed this final product with a feature that's not even on Ultra 2 the result is a surreal approach to a classic design we've known for years for example even if 46 mm sounds smaller than 49 mm on the ultra 2 Series stent offers a slightly larger surface area on the display by like 35 square mm so if you've become an ultra person just for the larger display imagine getting that but for almost half the price at a third of the weight and close to half the thickness but wait there's more the display on series 10 is also better than that of the ultra in a couple of ways we have a new wideangle Le OLED that

actually makes its curve display finally make more than just aesthetic sense it allows you to easily glance at the display from any angle making it feel far more premium it's also the first Apple watch with ltp3 technology for added efficiency at 2,000 nits of peak brightness sure it doesn't reach the extremes of the ultra but it's pretty damn close now a big question that I've gotten is if jet black is a safe Choice as uh we know that the finish on the iPhone 7 did not age well the quick answer is you shouldn't worry obviously 8 years have passed since then so this is a new treatment and listen it shows I've used the series 10 on and off for the past 2 months and uh the shiny

aluminum remains pristine this watch actually fell from behind my bedside table once already into tile and I see no scratches DSE or any signs of wear actually this is the only black option left after Apple decided to ditch stainless steel on the higher-end models over titanium and I seriously think the Boldt bet paid off the shift also brings the carbon neutral commitment to more variants of the watch so it's all a step in the right direction now the fact that Apple kept all the rest of the design elements for an extra year means that all my old straps work just fine regardless of the increase in footprint for those of us who've invested in expensive straps like 10 years ago this

is a pretty welcome move and then there are other subtleties like the end of the red ring in the crown to signify LTE connectivity even if this model that I'm reviewing is one of those the back is now all metal which allows for extra conductivity for faster charging the speaker has also been re-engineered to now be smaller and yet more powerful than before allowing you to even listen to music and podcast with it not just phone calls overall you can call this initation from what we had in the past given its visuals but this was clearly a choice made by Apple is pretty much everything is brand new and then somehow even with the reduced space on the inside Apple managed to add a few extra

benefits the company's new S10 sip brings added efficiencies in addition to an updated neural engine which we assume could be for Apple intelligence future proofing as none of those features work here just yet you even have the old Siri logo if you were to call on it still there's a new depth sensor and water temperature sensor in case you want to take this watch for swim which before was exclusive to the ultra seriously if it weren't for the Dual Band GPS on the ultra 2 along with the extra action button I'd be the first to say that series 10 is all everybody needs I think the bigger story though has also been watch OS 11 at least for me it's as if everything that I've wanted on watch OS

10 is now here I praised the smart stack for example last year but then wished it was contextual for what I'm doing and that's what it does now those of you who wish the Apple watch also had a dynamic Island well this is pretty much it from updates on my connecting flight to the status of other services like Starbucks I love how it's active without me needing to call on it and then you always have double tap to call on it with one hand which has only made me use it more than last year there are also a ton more widgets than before making this far more useful than having to jump between applications for the info you need if anything I wish the widget limit was broader and that the clock

information at the top right corner of the stack was digital or at least you could change it regardless of if the watch phase you're using is digital or analog now where you will see most of the changes is when it comes to Fitness and all a step in the right direction again see the old Apple watch Paradigm was for you to close your rings and that was it now the watch focuses more on a long-term progression sort of like a Garmin but better see with a Garmin your training load depends on the activity you pick so even if cycling and treadmill running will contribute to your running Fitness it won't necessarily work if you take two weeks off from running for example on the Apple watch you can focus on a single

activity or see your combined load Which is far more useful I then love how the vitals application has a synergistic approach to the load letting you know if your overall heart rate respiratory rate risk temperature and sleep are all contributing actually got sick for a week recently and I love that the watch could sense the abnormalities in my heart rate and rist temperature and call them out about the only thing that I wish that the watch would be able to tell me is if my workouts contribute to low aerobic or anerobic performance right now you're asked to rate how hard the workout was which can be subjective but then if we're honest Garin only gets this right like half the time and all while being double the

price of this w watch then there's the fact that uh this watch has sleep apnea notifications I know friends who have horrible health issues because of this so I'm happy to have a tool that tells me I don't have to deal with that yet I won't necessarily call this watch my favorite when it comes to endurance and that's particularly if you do more than 1 hour of workouts during the day in my case that's probably as far as I go so I'm able to charge this watch while I shower making it borderline good but not as great as the Ultra now as for accuracy I've been testing this watch while running in multiple cities and also while on my daily weight training sessions along with my pelaton cycling

as I say every year this continues to be the watch I will recommend to most people if you're a beginner you'll be content with closing rings every day and now as a pro user you've got the progression along with the ability to disable the Rings when you simply want to take a day off I'd also call this the most accurate heart rate set sensor on a conventional Smartwatch and its way to blend GPS with the pedometer does make up for its lack of dual frequencies little things like time to walk and time to run on Apple Fitness Plus along with the seamless integration to Spotify and apple music make this watch a great companion that doesn't even need to be connected to your phone if you have an

LTE plan active I would love for more support for mvnos and other country carriers for this Apple watch setup though as right now I travel a lot and that's always a pain to conclude I think it's important to look at this product the way apple looks at it the Apple watch is not trying to be a regular watch in any way it doesn't even look like one nor is it trying to behave like one since day one apple designed this watch to be more of a fitness computer on your wrist which can feed your health data to the application better than an iPhone can over the time Apple has evolved this watch to be so independent from the iPhone that I even wonder why you need to pair it to an iPhone to get

it to work cuz you actually don't need that when Apple call series tend the best Apple watch it's ever made it's really hard to not agree it might not be the design refresh many expected but the fact that it's as good or in certain cases better than the ultra 2 for a lot less money is a testament to where Apple wants this lineup to go like in the case of the iPhone 16 Series where the 15 Pro features have been made available to lesser price points this is what this watch is if you're currently rocking a series 9 or Ultra 2 I'd say you don't need to upgrade most if not all the features work on those watches just fine even if you're missing out on the larger design and newer display if you're using

anything older than that then sure it's time to upgrade it's the best Apple watch for most people even if i' say actually this is probably the best smartwatch for most people hands down and it's been that way for many years let me know what you think of our assessment in the comments down below and while you're at it follow us on social media and subscribe to our channel for more videos like this one you can also follow me on my personal handles to see me love this Apple watch more than ever please give this video a thumbs up if you like what you saw I'm ha thanks so much for watching we'll see you on the next one
