Anti-War Activist Perches on Major US Bridge in Protest Against Iran Conflict

An anti-war activist has spent four days atop the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington D.C. to protest against US involvement in war with Iran. The activist, Guido Reichstadter, refuses to be complicit in what he calls murder and calls on fellow citizens to resist. He has limited food and water but aims to amplify his message. Supporters gathered nearby, praising his non-violent civil disobedience as a powerful example of individual action against war.

The only appropriate response we have is to act immediately to stop this. Now, I'm here because I refuse to let my country commit murder in my name. I couldn't live with myself if I don't speak out if I don't do everything I can to mobilize opposition. Today marked the fourth day that an anti-war activist has been sitting atop the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C. I expect that I'll get arrested. I expect that I'll probably do some time in jail for this. But it you know, I'm not afraid of that at all and it's absolutely like secondary to the purpose that brought me here. I have

a responsibility to call my fellow the people of my country to stop this war, to resist, not to passively sit back and watch while crimes and murders are committed in their name. Guido Reichstadter wrote on X "Hands off Iran, Hands off Lebanon, and Free Palestine." He also said he opposes the development of artificial intelligence and supports the withdrawal of the National Guard from Washington, D.C. The two are linked together because you know, in the first day of the war it's it's likely that the horrific bombing of the school in Iran in Gaza was facilitated by advanced artificial intelligence.

I have two children. I'm a father. You know, my heart is for all the children of the world. The longer that I stay up here, the farther my message goes and so I want to try and stay up as long as I can. I brought a little food up, but I haven't eaten anything since I think since Friday or Saturday. I finished my water the last water went this morning. So, I don't think I can stay here more than a few more days. To support him, a group of activists gathered right next to the bridge where you can see a lot of police officers. You know, this solo action of civil disobedience is so powerful and it's a lesson to us that we all can do something more than we're doing.

He has decided that he this is a way a non-violent way that he can show that he is not wanting to be complicit in any of these wars that are being fought for Israel. I'm astonished, amazed, proud, and hopeful. This shows that there are still people out there that have humanity left. Quite ironic that this is 168 ft tall and he did this for 168 girls who were killed on the first day of the war. It's very profound and people all over the world are seeing this now. So, it really goes to show what one person can do. We have to use Guido as an example when we're feeling scared because we're stepping up what we're doing. Think about him.
