So, if I was rebuilding my wardrobe from scratch, the first four types of shirts that I would grab a few well-fitted heavier knit white and black t-shirts, a couple Oxford cloth button-downs, at least one poplin dress shirt, and a couple polo shirts in solid colors. One of them for sure being made from pique cotton. So, when it comes to t-shirts, as many of you guys know, fit is king. Find a brand that works for your build, and in general, lean towards heavier weight weaves. This is something a lot of guys ignore, but a heavier weight is in general going to have a nicer drape, look better on most frames, and it's

going to last longer. Now, the bad part in general is that these cost a bit more, so they're not usually sold in three or five packs. No, unfortunately, most cheap t-shirts nowadays are actually made from very lightweight materials that yeah, may be more breathable, hence they can make great undershirts, but yeah, as a standalone shirt, they usually don't do too well. Now, when it comes to Oxford collar dress shirts, also known as OCBD, these technically aren't dress shirts. They fall into the more casual realm because many of them come with button-down collars, although not all, and they're made from a heavier, softer material known as Oxford cloth. Basically, it's a basket weave cotton that's very durable.

That's what I love about these shirts. You can dress them up, wear them with a sports jacket, but they also look great on their own with a pair of jeans, and although traditionally the most common colors are going to be white or shades of blue, you'll also see them in a wide range of tints, and so they make great spring and summer shirts to build your wardrobe around. And FYI, you'll also see them occasionally in stripes. Next up, we've got the poplin dress shirt. If you're only going to get one, get it in white. If you're going to pick up a couple because you wear dress shirts often, make your second shirt a white, and get the third one as either a light blue or a cream color if you've got the

complexion to pull it off. Now, the fabric here, poplin, is a smoother, tighter weave. It's also going to be lighter, look dressier than your OCBD. That's why this shirt in general is made to be worn with a necktie, and can be worn with sports jackets, blazers, or even a suit. Next up, we've got the classic polo shirt. And the shirts I'm talking about in this category are all going to be short-sleeved, have a soft collar, and most you're going to see out there are made from a pique cotton. This is a woven cotton that has a bit of stretch to it. And historically, polo shirts were sport shirts. Made popular on the rugby field, they transferred over to tennis, and eventually golf, and

nowadays they fit that spot between a casual t-shirt and an OCBD. Again, keep the colors here simple. I like solids, especially in neutrals and the classics. Navy, white, olive, but you can also go with fun colors like red, orange, maroon, or pink. In today's video, gents, we're addressing the question, if I had to rebuild my wardrobe from scratch, what items would I grab? What timeless pieces would I use to build the foundation of my wardrobe? Well, gents, that's what we're covering and more in today's video.

All right, guys, today's video is brought to you by Quince. So, I've recently discovered this company, and I have to say, I love the quality goods that you can get at affordable prices. Seriously, when it comes to rebuilding your wardrobe, look at the selection that these guys have. And as you can see here, I got a few pieces from them, and I have to say the quality is top-notch. These guys carry cotton sweaters, wool sweaters, cashmere sweaters, and they've got a wide variety of styles. Maybe you're just looking for a crew neck or a classic quarter zip. As many of you guys know, the quarter zip is in style right

now. But I also like how they got lesser-known styles like this full zip I'm wearing right here. Because, gents, what I love about a full zip like this is it almost acts like a jacket. As you can see here on the front, they've got the double zipper. Not all manufacturers do this, so this is a great sign of quality. And what it allows you to do is open up the sweater at the bottom. It creates an illusion of slimming up the silhouette. It's incredibly soft, and just look at this color combination I'm pulling off right here. Classic camel with black. I don't know about you guys, but I love this combination. And that's another thing I love about Quince is they really stick with the neutral

palette. They carry the colors that I talk about almost in all of my videos that make it easy to match and build an interchangeable wardrobe. So, you can own less clothing, match it with more, and therefore get more wears out of it. Another thing I like about these guys, 365 days return. Think about that. You get the clothing, you get to see if it works, if it fits, if it measures up to your standards. And again, gents, when you use that link, you get free shipping, so you get to try this stuff out. You get to see if this is going to work with your wardrobe, with your style. So, gents, to elevate your wardrobe essentials, check out Quince.

Use that link in the description of today's video to get the best deal on the web. Seriously, guys, go check them out. They got tons of options for you. Highly recommended. And really quick, gents, in case I wasn't clear, yes, I'm going to recommend that you grab a crew neck sweater if you're rebuilding your wardrobe. Again, sticking with neutral colors are going to be easy to mix and match. That brown right there for me works with my hair color. And yes, that color can even be worn with black. So, if you got a pair of black trousers, black jeans, you can pull off that combination. But as you can see, blue

worked well, and that's because on the color wheel, these colors are opposite, which means they're complementary. These colors actually make each other pop a bit more. Now, quarter zips this winter were in fashion. Thank goodness men's style moves a little bit slower than women's style. Guess what? Quarter zips have been around for a long time. If you buy a quarter zip, it is going to be in style 5 years from now, it's going to be in style 25 years from now. So, yeah, if I'm rebuilding my wardrobe, I'm definitely going to grab a quarter zip. I'm also going to grab a cardigan. Now, button cardigans, I know a lot of guys are like, "Ah, that's like old grandpa's like style." I get it. You don't have to

go there. I would go with the modern equivalent, the zipper. As I talked about, that zipper cardigan because it opens up right here in the front, it creates this like thin V, which draws the eye, and I think actually does a good job slimming up the silhouette, creates an optical illusion of a line, and therefore makes you look leaner. Now, jumping over to jackets. So, first up, I would add a blazer to my wardrobe. I love sports jackets. I love suits, but a blazer for most modern men, this is going to fit that nice point in your wardrobe when you need a structured jacket, or you can go with an unstructured blazer. Point being, when you need something that dresses you up.

You wear that with that cotton poplin shirt and a necktie. Yeah, for most occasions here in North America, that is going to be perfectly fine, perfectly dressed up. Or if you wanted to dress it down, you went with an unstructured blazer, maybe wear a sweater underneath, a great layered look for a cooler spring day. Or take that same blazer, wear a white polo underneath it with a pair of chinos, and boom, all of a sudden, you've got something you can wear to the summer event at the regatta. Now, much more casual jacket, I'm just going to throw this one out there. You don't have to actually include it as a core essential, but I think for a guy that, you know, he just wears really casual

clothing, but he wants to bring a rugged style, guys, looking at the field jacket. Now, field jackets are easy to spot. They come in neutral colors, often times olive green. You're going to see them in tans, you're going to see them in browns, but they got those four patch pockets right there on the front. And that makes sense because the origin of this jacket comes out of the military. But nowadays, they come in such a wide range of variations, they've been in wardrobes so long, I really think they are a modern classic. Most guys don't even own one. One that doesn't look like it's military surplus, which that could be your style, but in general, I find ones that are really simple are easier

to mix and match and bring into an interchangeable wardrobe. Now, the last jacket here is going to be the Harrington. And this is usually going to be in a lighter color. It's going to end at the waist, so it's going to fit. And you can go with a bomber. I know a lot of guys like bombers, but I think Harringtons are a little bit cleaner and a little bit easier to wear because they're not made from leather, and they've got just simply these clean lines. For a lot of guys, they just feel a little bit dressier, they're easier to bring into the wardrobe. Also, because they're more lightweight, you're going to be able to wear them on cooler days in the summer and spring. And by the

way, if you're looking for a classic one, look for one with a tartan inner lining. That's just simply the way they roll. So, now let's talk about trousers. We talked about it quickly, but uh yeah, starting this off with classic Americana, let's go with that dark denim. For me personally, I find dark denim is easier to mix and match into a professional man's wardrobe than a medium wash or lighter colored denim because believe it or not, nowadays you can take a pair of dark denim that fits well. You can throw a pair of dress boots on. You can throw that Oxford collar button-down on, maybe even with that blazer, and boom, you've got

yourself a solid combination. But yeah, the key here is these jeans shouldn't look worn. They should be a dark indigo, fit well so that you can dress them up, dress them down. Remember, it's all about versatility. All right, with that, we've got chinos. Now, chinos come in a wide variety of shades, although traditionally they were a lighter tan, and that's probably one of the most common colors we're still going to see out there and the one I would recommend you start off with. But if you find you like these type of pants, which I think are great for the spring, summer, and fall, you can bring in, I think for you, maybe your third or fourth pair, some darker colors. Colors like maroon and

dark blue. What I find, depending on what you've got for your tops, for your jackets, well, chinos can end up matching really well. And in fact, a red pair of chinos with a navy blazer and a white Oxford button-down, I mean, that's actually a pretty classic look. But when it comes to dressing up, you want to have a pair of gray wool trousers. You're going to hear about flannels. I'm not going to go down that route, that's more for cooler weather, but just gray trousers. Made from a wool material, it's going to have a nice drape. You will These are basically dress slacks. Now, the thing that makes gray wool trousers so versatile is the color. This is a non-color, gray. This is a shade

that can pretty much match any color in your wardrobe. A white shirt, a blue shirt, a lavender shirt, a cream shirt, all of them are going to work. Black shoes, brown shoes, it doesn't matter what the shade of that brown is. Pretty much any color of dress shoe or dress boot is going to work with gray wool trousers. And speaking of shoes, yeah, I would bring in a pair of dress boots. Now, these don't have to be fancy. Chelseas could work fine, but maybe a clean classic lace pair, although something like this is going to be a bit more casual, but it'll work really well with the denim. But yeah, Chelseas are

going to be probably some of the most versatile ones out there. If they're dark-colored, well-shined, and not overly sized, you can wear them with a suit. If they got a little bit heavier of a sole, maybe they're made from more casual upper material, they can be worn with denim. And right with them, and probably even more versatile, classic loafers. Now, for me personally, I gravitate towards the classic penny loafer. It's got a sleek, simple design. If you want to go with a dressier pair, go with a darker color like black. Lighter colors made with sometimes a little bit heavier built soles are going to be more casual. And of course, let's not forget a well-fitted classic suit in

a dark color. Navy or charcoal gray is where I would start. And at this point, some of you guys are saying, "Come on, Antonio, what about accessories? What about all the other details?" Come on, I got you covered with this video right here. We go into more detail if you are rebuilding your wardrobe. If you want to add, and I do talk about accessories in this video, so guys, go check it out. Boom, right here. Oh, yeah. Right. Come on. Like, go over and check it out.
