Tonight, President Trump says US forces have taken custody of an Iranian ship that was attempting to pass the naval blockade near the straight of Almuz. It comes as Iran said it would refuse to take part in a second round of peace talks with America shortly after Washington confirmed JD Vance would head to Pakistan for further negotiations to end the war. Certainly an escalation tonight, Albi. Yes, it is an escalation and this situation becomes more unpredictable as the days go by. Now, the ship, the Tuska, was accosted by the US in the Gulf of Aman, Trump says they were given fair warning to stop. They didn't stop, so they blew a hole in the engine room.

Matt, unsurprisingly, for a ceasefire being conducted between President Trump on the one hand and the Iranian regime on the other, it has been an extraordinarily erratic ceasefire. It's been an unpredictable and erratic war. And tonight's news, I think, looks bad, like bad news for the British economy, bad news for the American economy, and bad news for the world economy. Well, earlier today, Donald Trump doubled down on his threat to knock out Iranian power plants as the deadline for the current ceasefire looms. Well, let's bring in now US correspondent Martha Kelner. Uh Martha, what are you hearing?

Certainly, as you've heard from our guests, an escalation. Um, on the one hand, we're hearing that negotiations and peace talks will continue in Islamabad uh tomorrow and on the other, we're hearing all of this Bellico's language. Yeah, an incredibly confusing picture. Erratic is certainly the word. And the news delivered as ever throughout the day on Donald Trump's uh truth social account rather than uh in more traditional means. But in the last couple of hours, uh, he's made another post about this US Navy destroyer, uh, attacking and seizing an Iranian flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Iran. He said, uh, that ship was defying the American blockade on Iran's ports. This is what he wrote on Truth Social. He

said, "Today, an Iranian frag flagged cargo ship named Tusa, nearly 900 ft long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our naval blockade. It did not go well for them. The US Navy guided missile destroyer USS Spruent intercepted the Tusca in the Gulf of Oman and gave them fair warning to stop. The Iranian crew refused to listen," he wrote. So, our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine room. Right now, US Marines have custody of the vessel. The Tuska is under US Treasury sanctions because of their prior history of illegal activity. We have full custody of the ship and are seeing what's on board. So, that's an unfolding uh situation with

the seizing uh of that Iranian flagged cargo ship. But earlier on in the day, Donald Trump had also posted on Truth Social uh saying that an American team of negotiators were heading uh to Islamabad, Pakistan uh for round two of talks with Iranian officials. He has dispatched, we understand, his vice president JD Vance alongside his so-called peace broker Steve Wickoff and his son-in-law uh Jared Kushner for those talks. But who knows uh if those talks will happen because Iranian state media say that Iran will not be at the table for those talks. They cited uh what they called Washington's excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant shifts in stance. So we're not

quite clear whether those talks will go ahead at all and if they do uh who will partake in them. Uh my understanding is that there is a security cordon which has already been put in place uh around the hotel in Islamabad where a similar round of talks also headed by JD Vance uh took place last weekend. But for now, the Iranians are saying that they're not going to be
