How a Magician Uses Mind Reading Techniques on Strangers

A magician demonstrates mind reading techniques on strangers, revealing personal information through psychological illusions and covert methods. The video explores how humans are more alike than different, using magic to highlight shared behaviors and the art of deception.

This video I'll be reading the minds of strangers by revealing information that I should have never known the answers to. Is it a but why am I doing this? Well, you see, our lives are predicated on the story which we tell ourselves about the person who we think we are. However, what if I was to tell you that most of what we believe about ourselves is actually fabricated. For example, most people would believe that they are very different from their co-humans. From the things we are interested in to the content we consume, from our culture, ethnicity, and even our political views, this profound sense of seeking individuality is consistent with us all. But the truth is, us humans are the same in more ways than we could ever possibly

imagine. Main one being is that we all reveal information about ourselves in the exact same way. So throughout this video, I'm going to exploit these tails peeking behind the curtain to convince them that I'm actually reading their minds. And the way I'm able to do this is by using my skills as a magician coupled with a series of covert psychological techniques. And as this video progresses, the information that I'll be revealing will become more and more pervasive. Just think of your pin code. Is that a two? Yeah. Good. Ladies and gentlemen, what you are about to witness may seem like real mind readading, but they are not. They are just simple illusions of the mind. Let's do this.

Hello, my good friends. Currently, I'm in my beautiful hometown of Manchester right now. And our first psychological experiment that I shall be trying is to see if I can correctly deduce the name of somebody's first kiss. Think of the name of the first person you ever kissed. Just think of your first kiss. Okay. Have you got them? Yeah. Cool. Here's what I want you to do. Hold out your hands like this and imagine there's an invisible typewriter between us. And I want you to imagine that you're typing the first letter of this person's name. But don't move your fingers. Just imagine you're doing it.

Really imagine you're typing it. Is that a C? Yeah, it's a C. Yeah. A B C D E F G H. It wasn't any of them, was it? Cuz you made like no ch. All right. Look at me. Think about it. Right. Hold out your hand like this. Just think of that letter. Think of the first letter. Imagine you're sending it to me. Is it a J? It's a J. Yeah. Imagine the second letter now of this person's name. Okay. Just imagine you're sending it to me. Look at me. Imagine you're sending me the second letter.

That's an A. Yeah. C A. Imagine the third letter of this person's name on my forehead. Imagine you can see it like genuinely there. And imagine you can see this person's face as well. If you ever see Cameron again, tell him what just happened. So we obviously we know the first letter is a J. Think of the second letter. Imagine you can see the second letter on my forehead. Look at my forehead. I think I've got this. Okay. Oh no. On the count of three, I want you to say the name of this person. 3 2 1. What the hell? So Jo, if you're watching Oh, no.

She still remembers you, Jo. It's either an A or a K. Is it a K? Yeah. Imagine you're shouting this person's name towards me. Don't open your mouth. Just imagine you're shouting this person's name. All right. As people, we have never been more connected than what we are today. From experiences that we can all simultaneously share to reaching anybody in the world from just a click of a button. So, with that in mind, I want you to try something next with people's connections. All right. Right now, I'm going to test both of yours psychological connection. Okay. So, how long have you both known each other?

Uh, seven months. Yeah. Seven months. Okay, this should work. Perfect. Right. Here's what I'm going to do. I want you to both hold each other's hand. So, you hold this hand. Yeah. Then put the others behind your side. Cool. Here's what I'm going to do. I'd like you to close your eyes. Do not open until I say so. Okay. Close your eyes. Watch this. If you felt me touch you, raise your hand. Open your eyes. How many times did you feel me touch her? Free. Yeah.

Did I touch her? No. What? Did you feel that? Yeah. So, clearly you've got a great connection. There we go. How did you do that? If you felt me touch her, raise your hand. Wait, what? How many times did you feel me touch you? Uh, two. Two or three? Two or three. How many was it? Uh, two or three? Two or three. Open your eyes. Did I or did I not touch him? You didn't touch you. He touched me. He didn't touch you at all.

You sure? I hope you don't. Did I touch her? No. Saturday the 1st of March. I'm in London. You are a liar. Now, don't take that personally because on average, most people lie at least twice a day. But what if I told you that you can actually spot a lie? I'm over here now. Hello. By looking for changes in vocal tones, and posture. What I'll be trying next is to see if I can catch a stranger out on a lie by telling them the name of their chosen card. Let's do this. What's your name, by the Will.

Will I'm Dan. Pleasure to meet you. Nice to meet you. Now, here's what we're going to do, Will. I want you to just clear your mind. Yeah, that was fast. Okay, fast in there anyway. I don't believe that. Now, what I want you to do is just think of any playing card you'd like, but don't tell me. You got it. I'm going to try and catch you out on a lie. So, you're going to lie to me and I'm going to try and like see through the lie. Okay? So, you're going to lie to me and I'm going to try and like detect when you're lying.

So, what I'd like to do first and foremost, just think of a playing card. Let one come to your mind. You're just going to say yes to everything. Is it a red card? Yeah. Is it a black card? Is it a heart? Is it a diamonds? Can I just kind of like move these up slight? I'll just try to look to your Okay. Is it a clubs? Yes. Is it a spade? Is it a four? Yes. Is it a jack? Six. Yeah. All right. I think I might have this. To spot the lie. What I'm doing there is looking for micro deviations in response time coupled with small covert shifts in their demeanor. That we clear pupil

dilation makes the lie almost impossible not to spot. Reading their chosen card like a book. And with all that together, I'm going to spread the cards on the floor. And I want you to imagine that you're pushing out the card which is in your mind. Watch this. We'll spread them. Imagine you're pushing it. Think about the card. Right. All right. Watch. Really imagine you're doing this. Keep your hand there. Turn that around. Is that the card? Yeah. The card that's in your mind. Yeah. Imagine that you can see it in the flame. Imagine you can really see this.

Watch. If you can see, it's slowly starting to change into one card. And that should be the one that was in your mind. Was it the three of diamonds? Was this the one? I want you to imagine that you can see your card in the flame. Just imagine you can see it. Genuinely imagine this. Right. Watch this. Watch. Really imagine you can see it. Yeah. Look, I'm getting a bit of a blister. Wait. Oh my god. Your hands. Wait. Oh my god. Three of clubs. Yeah. Is it the three of clubs? That's the card you're thinking of.

Three of clubs. I have burnt myself for your entertainment and yours. There we go. High five. I'm going to put the cards inside your hand. Could you just put your hand on top like a sandwich? The card which is now in your mind. I want you to imagine that you can see through the cards. Look at your hands. Imagine you can see through them to just your card. Imagine that every other card is God. The one that's in your mind apart from that one. Lift up your hand. That's That's crazy. Hold on. I said every card apart from yours. Cup your hands together. Cup them like this. Watch.

No. What is that? The one? Yeah. Was it the two of hearts? The one you were thinking of? Yeah. How does it happen, my friends? Who knows? That's crazy. I'm going to try and make a prediction. I'm going to ask you a few more questions. Okay. I'm gonna try and write down the identity of this card. Right. Once again, was it a red card? Yeah. Is your name Steve? Yeah. Okay. I think I've got the card. Right. But I'm not too sure. On the count of three, Will, tell me what the name of the card was. Three, two, one.

Nine of hearts. The nine of hearts. Not the ace of spades. No. Um. All right, Will. I'll try and fix this. What if I actually drew a deck of cards? Right. So, the ace of spades is just the front card of a deck of cards. Yeah. The nine of hearts. Watch. Look. That was very good. Look. Was that the one? That's the one. The nine of hearts. And also, you can uh keep the nine as a little souvenir. I just got my mind read. Nine of hearts. picked out the deck and there it is. As the sun began its descent of the

city, I wanted to hit the streets again to try one last thing. However, on the way, two lads stopped me and wanted to see something. Just think of somebody that you haven't seen in a long time. Tell me. In a long, long time. Have you got them? Yeah. Could you hold your hands out like a typewriter? Think of the first letter of this person's name. Imagine you're typing it down, but don't move your hands. Look at me. Could you hold out your hand? So that's a J. A B. Is it an A?

No. Look at me. Imagine you're sending me the second letter. This guy's crazy. Imagine this person stood right here. What's the name? That's what I love about performing. That one moment in time where their world is flipped on its head. Appreciate that. Cheers. I am in love with the vibe of London at night. Thousands of lights illuminate the city. From traffic lights to brightly up buildings, from city lights to whatever this thing is. Even at night, this city's atmosphere is electric. So, with that in mind, I

wanted to see if in some weird way I could use this energy to my advantage. What I'd like you to do is think of a small object that could fit in your hands. Okay? But don't tell me. You got it? Cool. What I'd like you to do in my pocket, I have this, which is an invisible piece of paper. Take this. And also in my other pocket, an invisible Sharpie. Take the Sharpie. Imagine you're drawing this small object on the piece of paper. Literally. Cool. and imagine that you're writing what it is. Now, scrumple it into a small ball for me and then just throw it towards me.

You want measles? Open that up and have a look. What is it? Have a look. Is that the one you're thinking of? Yeah. Watch this. We're going to scrunch it up. Watch. Could you hold on to this lighter for me and then could you just light the lighter for me? Watch. Oh, we have fun. And that's when you've got a light bulb. Now, one last thing. We'll take the light bulb. Hold out your finger for me. On the count of three, I want you to touch my finger. Three. Two.

One thing's for sure, you're not ready for what's next. And what's next is for you to like this video right now. My friend over here told me that he'd never smiled in his entire life. Up until the point I graced him with that magic trick. So, one like equals one smile for my friend. And yeah, okay. On with the rest, I guess. Monday the 10th of March. In life, we can only move forwards. We must proceed without certainty. Rolling the dice. Even if we are unsure to which number we will end up landing on. Okay. So, right here I've got a dice. What I want you to do is just roll the dice and then whatever number it lands on, like face up, just remember the number. Okay.

Yeah. 1 2 3 4 5 6. Is it three? 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 He's smiling like just after four. So I'm going to assume it's a three. Yeah, it's a three. Just give it a shake in your hands. Don't let me see. Look at me. 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 Is it free? Is that a free? Yeah. Do it again. Shake it in your hands. Have a look. Give it a shake. Look at me. The way you're laughing. It's either a really large number or a really low number. It's either one or six. Right.

You laughed as soon as I said one. Is it a one? It is. Go ahead. You got it. Yeah. Look at me. One, two, three, four, five. That's a three. Is it a three? Yeah. One more time. Roll it again. Look at me. One, two, three. She's already smiled on two. Is it a two? Yeah. Yeah, it's number two. Now, revealing those numbers wasn't too pervasive, but what if I could reveal a number that should always have remained a secret? What I like to do is just think of your pin code. Okay? Look at me. Try and think of the first number. Is it four? It is. Think of the second. Is that a two?

Yeah. It's a two. Is it written on me? Yeah, it is two. Yeah. It's very important information. And just think of the last two. Is that a seven? Yeah, it is. Yeah. Then no. Tell us what is it? So, you've just told me. So, we got the first three, then we got the last one. Who knew that stealing his pin would be that easy? But that's not enough to truly take his identity. I'd need to duplicate his card. But that couldn't be possible, could it? Do you have a card that I can borrow? Yeah. Cool. So, you hold on to this for me. I'll take out one of my cards now. So, here's the thing. All I'd theoretically have to do now to take

your identity would be to go one, two, sorry, three. And just like that, the card actually duplicates itself. So now you can have your card and I'll have your card. I've got your pin. What I'd like you to do is just think of a film. Any film you'd like. Maybe one from a childhood. One that makes you feel a certain way. But don't tell me what it is. You got it. Cool. Think of this film which is in your mind cuz I'm going to ask you some questions about it and I want you to say just yes to everything. So look at me.

Is it a new film? Yes. Is it an old film? Is it a horror film? Yes. Is it an action film? Yes. So you said yes to a lot, but when I said a horror film, you kind of was still and kind of looked to a side. Is it a horror film? Yes. Yeah, it is. Tell you what, let's try this. Hold this for me. Cool. Right. Think of this horror film. Is it a new film? Yes. Is it a recent film? Yes. Are you a fan of this film? Yes, you are. Yes. And you've seen it before? Yes. Wait, how many times have you seen it?

Wait, wait. Is the film you're thinking of is it screen? Yeah. And look at it. So far, I've spent this video reading the minds of my victims. But one thing I am yet to do is to read your mind, my dear viewer. I feel like I need a little bit of a bigger space. This will do. All right, let's send this boy up. Right now, you'll notice that there are nine cities on the screen. Do me a favor. Just think of any one of the cities on the screen. Now you have the city in mind, either like the video or

leave me a comment to let me know that you have it. The next step, now you have the city in mind, just count up the number of letters in your city. Perfect. Now you have the number of letters in mind. What I want you to do is find that number of letters and then correspond it with the new city on the screen. Have you done that? Perfect. Now you found your new city. We're going to do it one last time. Just count up the number of letters in the city that you are on now. and just use your number of letters again to find your final city. Have you done that? Wonderful. All right, my dear friends, after all this, I think the

city that you're thinking of right now is Amsterdam. Yeah, life comes at you fast. I'm in Amsterdam for the first time in my life. Thursday the 20th of March. Yes, I've always wanted to visit this city. So, the fact I'm here filming is honestly so fun. Firstly, I'm baffled by the sheer number of bikes I've seen. That's right. Either everybody's riding a bike or there's just large groups of them everywhere. So, who would I be if I didn't embrace in Amsterdam's culture?

Now, the views here are great, and the food, well, that's even greater. Not to mention that there is literally so much to see and do here. And to my surprise, the people were actually extraordinarily friendly. Two. Three. It's all right. Well, for the most part, I just can't deny the wave. That's so funny. Okay. Could you do me a favor? What I'd like you to do is think of any celebrity you'd like. They could be either with us or not with us anymore. Just get one of your mind. All right. I've got one. You got it. Cool. Inside of my pocket, I actually have a piece of paper. Now, I'm going to ask you a few questions, and I want you to say yes to every question I ask. So, I'm going to try and catch you

out on a live. As you're answering my questions, I'm going to make a few little cuts on this piece of paper. Are they alive? Yes. Do you know this person? Yes. Are you a fan of this person? Yes. Is this person a boy? Yes. Is this person a girl? Yes. Do they live in Amsterdam? Yes. Do you live in Amsterdam? Yes. Have you met this person? Oh, yeah. Yes. Okay. Would you go out for drinks with this person?

Yes. tried to get this as good as I can. I think I have it. What's the name of the celebrity? Rihanna. Look. Wow. Okay. Cool. Was that you thinking of Rihanna? That's the one. On the count of three, I want you to tell me who this person is. Three, two, one. Michael Jackson. Hold on. It is indeed Michael Jackson. Is that who you're thinking of? My friend Michael. His friend Michael Jackson. I have no idea. He did that.

I have no idea either. Just so it happens. High five. Who is the person you're thinking of? Hanks. Tom Hanks. Yes. How did he do that? That's who you're thinking of? Yes. Tom Hanks. Yeah. you're good. How you can cut somebody's face without knowing exactly what I'm thinking about. So, I mean, it's very special. Well, my friends, this is the point where I come clean. You probably assume that I made this video to show off my mind readading abilities, but really, I just wanted to prove a simple point. One of the biggest lies we were ever told is

that people who think differently to us are our enemies. Even though humans are different in some ways, we are the same in so many more. We all eat, we all sleep, we all love, we all cry. And when put in a similar situation, I find that we all react the same. The truth is, I can't really read minds. I'm just using methods that I've learned my entire life. Well, that's the real reason I perform, for that simple moment of cohesion when everybody's pretense drops and they can be fully present in that singular moment. So, you delightful human beings, if there's just one thing I can leave you with, it's that maybe our minds are a little bit more similar than we think.

I have the most bizarre dreams. Thanks for watching the video. This one was super fun. To watch another one, please tap that one on the screen now. Why not? If you don't ask, you don't get. A follow on Instagram would be nice as
