West Virginia Mountaineers Crowned College Basketball Champions After Overtime Thriller

Time to celebrate the college basketball crown champion, the West Virginia Mountaineers. On behalf of Fox Sports and AEG, it is now time to present the championship trophy. Coach Hajj, as a confetti falls here in your first year as head coach of this team, what was so special about this group? Just their commitment to each other. Um, again, from the moment they stepped on campus in June, they uh they love each other. Um, again, when you come play at the University of West Virginia, you know, you're not just only

playing for a basketball program, you're playing for an entire state. And these guys embraced that the whole time. And again, this game was really symbolized our season. You know, when you look like we were just about down and out, they find a way to pick themselves off the mat. Made some huge plays. And um, that's why I'll I'll forever remember this group. And they've set a standard and expectation for seasons to come. Yeah. especially in a game that was back and forth late going into overtime. What did it show you that they were able to withstand everything that Oklahoma threw at them?

Yeah, Coach Moser and that team, they have a great team and uh so we knew, you know, that no lead was going to be too big, which we raced out to an early lead and then um just knew it was going to be that type of game and and like I said, this is what this team has done. you know, whether it was being down big in games or having a tough loss, they've always found a way to like put themselves back into the mix and um they're special. Thank you, coach. Thank you. Well, it is now time to celebrate the king of the crown. Big thank you to Victory Rings for our crown MVP chain.

Oh my god. What? Very fancy. What? The crown MVP goes to Honor Huff. Honor, I'm going to take you back for a second. Going into the semi-final game, you told me, "I can't believe I went 0 for six from three in the quarterfinal." Well, you decided to make up for it in one game. Eight triples tonight. So, how big did that basket look to you? Uh, it didn't look that big. I should have made some more. Honestly, I'm I'm very I'm my own critic. But, you know, these guys right here behind me, they have the utmost confidence in me to make shots. Even if I'm down, they always tell me, "Keep shooting." Coach Hodgej has the ultimate confidence in me from the first time he called me, man.

And it's just been a great ride. And it's always great to end with a win and happy like this, man. And it could have went any other way, but we decided to stick together and keep playing. And I can't I'm forever in debt to this group, man. No crowd. To get the W and go out on top, especially with these guys rallying behind you. I can tell how important and how special really you and your teammates are. So, can you describe what this feeling is like? We have some of the most camaraderie I've ever been around, man. And this team, we truly love each other from like the bottom to the top. Like even from our managers up, man, we just love each other and love to be around each other.

So to get to keep playing and be around each other longer was the best experience that we could get here in Vegas, too. And we just wanted to go out with a bang, and that's what we did.
