I'm awake. Oh, hey. It's me, Blippy. And I got to spend the night here at Camp Koqua in Stanwood, Washington. It's an overnight camp. Yeah. And check it out. I got to spend the night in a treehouse. Oh, check it out. It's so tall. I can see the whole forest. Hello. We're here at a summer camp. That means there's a lot of really cool activities to do. I wonder what we're going to do. Why don't we go find out? Come on. Whoa. Hey, friend. I'm Blippy. What's your name? Hi, I'm Counselor Fitz. Oh, hey Counselor Fitz. Hey, I'm actually here to do some activities, but I don't know where to go.
Right. So, we're at high ropes. Uh, so just look up. Hey, wait. I have to go all the way up there. Yeah. Oh, no. I don't know. That makes me really nervous. No, that's perfectly understandable. But me and Counselor Pro are going to make sure that you're safe. Okay. Well, sometimes when I get nervous, another thing that helps is taking a deep breath. So, why don't we take a deep breath? Okay. I feel better. I think I'm ready. All right, let's go get some gear on. Perfect. First things first, safety first. Let's go.
This is tricky. We barely started. You're doing great with me. Perfect. Time to go this way. Hey, let's clip in. Perfect. This is awesome. We're so high up. Let's keep going. Whoa. I'm halfway there. Hey. Keep going here. Whoa. How am I doing, Fence? You're doing amazing. These are wiggly. We're almost there. Just one more to go. You're doing great. Hey, I did it. You're going to grab each rope and you're going to guide it all the way until you're at the end. Okay, we got one.
Here it is. Oh, this is so tricky. You're doing amazing. Oh, it takes a lot of balance. Oh, this is so fun. Whoa. Oh, this is tricky. I'm doing it, though. You're almost there, Blippy. Hey, I did it. Okay. All right. You're going to pretend like it's a giant ladder, and you're just going to walk all the way till you get to the other platform. Whoa. Cool. Okay, you got this. Uh, Fitz, what are these called? These are called the Burma Loops. Oh. Oh, cool. Wait, how do I do them?
Right. Guys, you're just going to walk across uh and you can make it all the way to the ends. Okay. I'll try my best. You're going to do great. Thank you. Wa. You're almost there. I made it. Keep going. You're almost to the end of the course. Whoa. You're almost to the final platform. Whoa. Almost there. Great job. I made it. You into this zipline. Zip? Wait. Zipline? Yeah. I thought I was done. Well, not quite. You get to have a really sweet ride all the way down.
Hello down there. Here we go. Coming back around. Yeah. All right. Great job. That was so fun. I know you can do it. That was tricky. Thank you so much for all your encouragement. No problem. It helped a lot. And that deep breath helped, too. Good. Okay, so now what? All right. Uh, how about you meet me at the archery range? Okay, but how do I get there? Let's get you down first. Let's do that. That was still fun. Let's go. Oh, hey. We're on a hike right now.
We're off to archery. And look at this. Oh, hiking is when we're walking in nature on a dirt path. It's a great way to get exercise. And you can breathe in all that fresh air. That's thanks to all these awesome plants like the trees. Speaking of trees, look at this one. Wa! This tree is huge. Wa! It's like way taller than me, huh? Oh, that's so tall. In fact, this tall tree, this western red cedar, is 200 ft tall. That's like having 10 giraffes stacked on top of each other. That's really tall, isn't it? Cool. Let's keep moving. Hey, do you hear that? Yeah. Those are birds. Birds love forests. There are plenty of awesome places to build their homes. Those are called nests. And there's plenty of food, too. They eat seeds, nuts,
berries. Oh, so yummy. Okay, we're almost to the archery range. Let's get going. Wa! Check it out. They're doing archery. Whoa! That's when you take a bow and an arrow just like she's doing, and you pull it back. Oh, here she goes. She's going to do another. She got one. That's so cool. He just got a bullseye. Yeah, that's when an arrow goes right in the middle of the target. That is the target. It's got a yellow center where you get a bullseye and then there's a red ring, a blue ring, and a
black ring. That's so cool. That's really tough to do. Takes a lot of practice. Oh, I'm so excited to try some archery. What do I need to do? Right. So, there's a few rules that we have. Um, so we want to make sure that when we're shooting, we have an arm guard. Oh, an arm guard. Oh, yeah. That's what they were wearing. Exactly. Does that protect your arm from the bow? Exactly. So, if the string comes back, it's going to help.
Wo. It keeps me nice and safe. Yeah. But I don't have an arm guard. Hey, that's perfect. Awesome. Okay. Now, what? All right. From there, we can pick up our bow. Okay. And pick up the bow like this. Yep. Exactly. And then what? Right. So, important thing. Uh, we're never going to face this thing towards anybody else. And then when we have our arrow, we're only going to face our target. Oh, okay. Does that keep people safe? Exactly. Oh, perfect. Okay, let's grab our arrow. Perfect. Wo, look at these. Yeah, those are called feathers or fletchings.
Wo, what are they for? Right. So, they're going to help stabilize this arrow when it's in the air. Oh, cool. Wait, why is there one white one and two red ones? Right. So, we want to load it in a really specific way. So, we want the white one that's going to face outwards or towards you. Oh, so it goes on my bow like this. Exactly. Oh, cool. All right. Now, what? From there, you're gonna hold your left hand out and you're gonna pull back with your right hand.
How do I hold the string? Right. So, you want to use this finger right here on top. Okay. My pointer finger on top. Those two right underneath it. Oh, perfect. Oh, it's a perfect little space for my three fingers. Exactly. From there, you're going to pull back to your smile. To my smile. Your smile. And when you feel you're all right, you can release. Oh, here we go. Ready? 3 2 1 I didn't hit the target, but I have two more arrows to practice with. Can I shoot the others?
Yeah, let's try again. Awesome. This is fun. Whoa. Here we go. The white fletching is towards the sky. Pull it back to my smile. Three, two, one, go. Whoa. I hit the yellow. Let's try one more time. Maybe this one will be a bullseye. Just like our friend made before. Oh, here we go. Pull it back to your smile and go. Another yellow. I got two in the center. That was so fun. Right. All right, let's go to our next activity. Oh, perfect. Do we get to hike there?
Even better. We get to canoe. Wa! We get to canoe. Yeah, let's go. Wo! Look at this. There's a bunch of campers around a campfire. Hey friends. Oh, are we having fun at Camp Colloqua? Yeah. Oh, me too. Hey. Whoa. Counselor Fitz here is Roasting some marshmallows. Yeah. What are these for? For some s'mores. Oh, s'mores are super yummy. They're when you take a roasted marshmallow, you put them between two graham cracker pieces, and there's chocolate in between, too. They're so yummy. Can I help?
Oh, please do. Awesome. Have you guys made any other campfire snacks before? Yeah. Hot dogs. You can do those over a campfire. Yeah. Wa! That must be so yummy. Oh, mine are done, Fitz. Are yours? I think so. Okay. You have your graham cracker ready? Awesome. All right. Are we ready to take a bite? Yeah. Ready? 3 2 1. These are yummy. Did you have fun learning in the great outdoors today?
Yeah, me too. It was so fun learning all about nature here at Camp Colloqua. But that's it for this video. If you want to watch more of my videos, all you have to do is search for my name. Can you guys spell my name with me? Yeah. Ready? B L I T P I Flippy. Good job. Okay, let's munch on some more s'mores. Yeah. Yeah, let's do it. Hey, it's me, Flippy, and today we're here at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park in Lampy, Missouri. Yeah, here you can go trout fishing. Woohoo! Yeah, it's so much fun to see fish, catch fish, and release them safely back into the water. So, they keep on swimming and having fun. Let's go find a creek and some fishies.
Whoa, we did it. We found a creek. Do you see any fish in the water? H I see a leaf and see some bugs. Oo. And some plants. H. But don't see any fish. Well, I think if we keep looking, keep your eyes open and we're sure to find a fish. Okay, let's keep looking. Come on. Whoa, look at this place. It's so beautiful here. Do you see the waterfall? Wa! Yeah, it's a small waterfall in the creek. I bet there are some fish down there. Keep your eyes open. Maybe we'll see a really big fish. Or maybe a teeny tiny fish. I don't know. Let's look.
Wa! Look at what it is. It's a waterfall. Wa! I bet some really big, beautiful fish live by this waterfall. Oh, let's go see. Wa! Check it out. Wa! Rainbow trout! Wa! You see how big those rainbow trout are? Yeah, these are some really big fish. Yeah, rainbow trout can be up to 30 lbs. Yeah, that's really big. And do you know why rainbow trout are called rainbow trout? H, look closely. They're so colorful. See, there's blue on that one and some red on that one.
Think I see some green on that other one. Oh, and yellow, too. Yeah, they're so colorful. I like to be colorful, too. Oh, and that reminds me, rainbow trout love cold water. Well, that makes sense why they like being next to the cool water here in the creek and by the waterfall. I like the cold, but I need a jacket. Oh, look at them swim. Whoa. Hello, fish. Hello, fishies. Well, yeah, they're going really fast. Rainbow trout ARE THE FASTEST FRESHWATER FISH. OH, they love swimming around and jumping. They can even jump four feet in the air. Oh, wait a minute. I like to go fast and jump. And I do like to be
colorful. Hey, how about let's act like the rainbow trout. Woohoo. Okay, stand up with me and go really fast and jump and move like the fish. Woohoo! Oh yeah, we had a fish. Whoa, that was really fun being a rainbow trout. But you know what else would be really fun? Yeah, going fishing and catching a fish. Hey, that would be fun. But I think I need a little help. H bet we can find someone to teach us. Come on. Whoa. It looks like there's some more fish over here. Maybe this would be a really good place to go fishing. Whoa. And check it out. Look, I see someone. I bet they could help teach us how to fish. Let's go say hi.
Oh, hi there. I'm Blippy. What's your name? Hi. I'm Jim. Oh, it's nice to meet you, Jim. Well, we've been admiring all the beautiful fish, and I was hoping to go fishing today. Do you think you could teach me how? I think so. Okay, great. Well, what's the first thing to be a fisherman? Well, actually, you need some equipment. Um, I just happen to have some here. Wa. What's that? This is called a fishing vest. Wa. Oh, thank you. And it goes on and they have a little pocket so you can put your tackle in there.
Oh, check it out. My very own fishing vest. Well, now I really feel like a fisherman. You look like a fisherman. Huh? Well, what other equipment will we need? Well, we need a fishing pole. Oh, okay. Wo. And I like this fishing pole cuz look, it's orange. Yeah. Wo, that's cool. Yeah. And this is called a spinning reel. Oh, check it out. Yeah. You see this? A spinning reel right there. Wa. And is this the fishing line? Yes, that's a fishing line. And it's really almost clear so that doesn't the fish can't see it.
Wa. That's so cool. So, we can fool them. And this is called the lure. Wo, check it out. Yeah, that lure. Oh, that looks so cool. And I bet when this is in the water, it looks pretty sparkly. It does. The little spinner goes around and around and it flashes in the sun. Wo! I like that. And it makes little vibrations in the water, little noises that the fish can hear. Yeah. And I bet they like that a lot. He comes swimming over. Yeah, they do like it. And is this where you hold the fishing rod?
Yeah, you hold it with one of your fingers through there. Okay. And then one finger up here that can grab the line. Okay. Just roll that over. And then you push it forward. And when you go forward, you release your release the finger and it lets the line come off the reel. Oh, well that sounds easy. You think you can do that? I think so. But I also saw this. It's a net. Whoa. Uhoh. Well, I think this is for the fish, right?
Well, yes. Actually, it's so that we can get them out of the water. That's kind of far down there to get them out of the water. And sometimes you can't just lift them out because they might break the line. Oh, yeah. And you don't want to fall in either. So, you use the net to scoop them up in the water and then you can get them out and take the hook out. Well, maybe you could show me how to cast the line and I can hold the net and help net it out of the water. Oh, sure. I would like that.
Okay. Here, I'll hold the net and let's see if we can catch a fish. All right. Are you ready? Yeah. I'll stand over here. Okay, here we go. Going to grab the line. Going to cast. Wa! Look at it go. Wa! It's spinning through the water. Wa! Looks like the fish are liking it. We caught one. Wa! That was so mess. Oh, it came unhooked. Oh! Oh, that was close. Yeah. Oh, THERE'S ANOTHER ONE. WE GOT ONE. YEAH. Going to see if I can catch him in my net. Boy, look at her splashing and jumping.
Here we go. There you go. Good job. Oh, look. We caught a fish. Oh, here we go. Yeah. Wow. That's amazing. It looks like it's a rainbow trout. Yeah. Here, I'll let you take You want me to take the hook out? Yeah, that'd be great. Yeah, rainbow trout are really, really colorful fish. They're all different colors. Like, we got the hook out. Red and green. Okay. Oh, let me get my hands wet. Yeah, we don't. Yeah, we want our hands wet if we're going to touch a fish.
There we go. Oh, look at him. Yeah, look. It's the fish's tail. And wa, what are those right here? That's called his gill plate. Wow. And it's a male. Wo, it's so colorful. See the red gill plate. They get like that in the fall when they're spawning. The males get really colorful. Wo. And look, it has a lot of spots. So, we're going to have to get this guy back in the water, though. Whoa. Uhoh. Whoa, dancing fish.
Get him back in the net. Better put him back in the water. Okay, here you go. Just watch him swim away here. Oh, here you go. There he's doing better. Whoa, look at him go. A Bye-bye, little fish. Yeah, those rainbow trout, they really like swimming through the water. And it's important for them to be sent back into the water so that they can breathe through their gills. Well, I'll see you later, little fishy. Wow, you are really good at catching fish with your fishing rod. Well, I bet you can do it.
You think I could try? Sure. Okay, maybe I'll try this time. And do you think you could help me net it? Okay, here we go. So, the first things first, we have to hold it like this. See? Is that right, Jim? That's perfect. And then we want to put our finger on the line and flip this little H. What do you call that? The bail. Whoa. Yeah. See the bail? Oh, that silver part. And then uh uhoh. We want to cast the line. Here we go. Ready?
Wa! Good cast. That was really far. Okay, we put the bail down and we start to slowly bring it back. Okay, and now we want the spinner to spin. And this time I'm going to hold it up. OH, YOU GOT HIM. WHOA. THERE YOU GO. Here we go. Reel him in. WHOA. BOY, he's fighting. Here we go. Oh, he's coming. YOU GOT HIM. OH, YEAH. WE GOT HIM. WHOA. HERE, I'll hold the net. You could help take out the hook. Whoa. I caught my very own fish. You did it.
Yeah. It's really fun catching the fish. And it's really nice, too, to release them back into the water so they can keep being really swimming and going really fast. Wo, that one's so shiny. Look. Yeah. But this is a female. You notice he's not as red as the other one. Oh, yeah. He's kind of white color on the belly. Kind of white on the belly. Wo. Well, we better put him back. Bye-bye, little fish. Oh, Jim. I see there's a little waterfall over there. Oh, where does all the water come from? Well, we have springs in this park. The water comes right up out of the ground.
Wa. And bubbles up and it's nice and cold. Wa. So, I bet the fish love it. That's what creates the whole creek is the springs. Wow. That's amazing. And rainbow trout love cold water. So, that's why they're here. Well, Jim, I also noticed you had some other fishing rods. Yeah. Right over here. There's one. And whoa, two. Yeah. What kind of fishing rods are these? Well, these are called fly rods. And because they call the lures flies, and flies are very small. So, this is a special rod designed to throw little
tiny flies like this. Oh, yeah. Look, there's a lure right here. See, it's a teeny tiny little lure. Just like a little fly buzzing around. Whoa. And it looks a little different, right? the this part right here, the fly reel. That's the reel that holds the line. Yeah, it looks a little different from that other rod. Yeah. And the line's different, too. It's bright green and it's big.
It's really fat. Oh, yeah. It's a little heavier, too. Well, do you think you could show me how to use a fly rod? Sure. Well, first you just unhook it like you did and get it unwrapped. There you go. Right on. Like that. There you go. You got a little bit wrapped up. Yeah, it happens. Yeah. Okay. Now, once you get it up like that, you lay throw the line out in the water a little bit. Okay. Just like that. Okay. Here, let me unwrap it a bit. Yeah, I can help do that. Well, thanks, Jim. Yeah, there we go.
Now, let some line out. Okay. Whoa. There you go. Whoa. There we go. Yeah. Whoa. There. Once you have some line out, you bring the rod back and you stop it right about here. And then you roll it back forward like this until the fly goes right in the water like that. Oh, okay. There you go. Let's see if we can try. Give it a try. Once it goes down, I just reel it back in. Well, you watch that float and see if it goes under. If the fish take it and grab it, it'll go down and then you pull the fish in. Okay, here we go. We'll go up and then down. Yep. That's it. Whoa, that was a little tricky. I'll try again. Do it. Try again.
Here we go. Go up. Yep. There it is. Now, just let it sit. Now, watch that float. And if you see it go down, that's when you jerk the fish in. Go, go, go. Here we go. Pull it up hard. WHOA. UHOH. He got away. Okay, try it again. Definitely takes a lot of patience doing fishing. Yeah, a little bit. See if you can do that cast again. Okay, here we go. We'll go up and over. Okay, that's it. Wa! Look at that big thing.
My goodness, that's a big one. Wa! Check it out. Wa! This is a really big one. Think I better stick with the net. Whoa! Here we go. WHOA! LOOK, Jim's reeling him in. I'm going to pick up the fish with my net so we can see him. Whoa! This fish is enormous. It's gigantic. It's huge. Look. Wa. Here you go. Wow. I'm going to need a good net, man. Wa. Yeah. Oh, look. He's tangled up in the line.
He's coming in, though. You ready? Here you go. Hey, little fish. You got him. Oh, he's so heavy. Wa. Check it out. Wa Jim, how big is this fish? This fish is about 4 lb or more. Wa 4 lb fish. Yeah, about 23 in. Wo, 23 in. Look at him. Wa, look at the size of this fish. Hi, little guy. Well, thanks for coming up here with us. Better send it back to the water. Yeah, we better get him back in there. Here we go. Let's put him in there. There you go. Back into the net.
He's going to do it. And back to the water you go. There you Just let him breathe a little bit. And once he starts kicking around, we'll let him go back. Yeah, just like that. There you go. Perfect. There you go, little fishy. Bye-bye. A Whoa. Good job. That was awesome. Yeah, that was the biggest fish ever. Well, thank you so much for teaching me about fly fishing and using a fishing rod. I feel like a real fisherman. Well, I guess what? But I have a surprise for you. A surprise for me? Yeah. I got this little rod for you to practice with.
Wa! Check it out. It's for me. My very own fishing practice rod. Wa! And check it out. It's Flippy. Yeah. Wa! It's orange and blue. And this is probably a very good rod to practice with because it's safe. It has a bow tie instead of a hook. Right. Well, thank you so much, Jim. You're welcome. I'll see you soon. I'll see you. Yeah, that was awesome. I had so much fun finding a creek with some rainbow trout. Yeah. Meeting Jim and learning how to fish and fly fish and getting my very own flippy kid fishing rod. Well, this isn't a real fishing rod, but it's great for practice. Yeah, I don't think fish like to eat bow ties.
Okay, I think we're ready for some more practice. I wonder if we'll catch something. Here we go. Woo! Wa! Looks like we caught something. I think it's I a boot. Well, let's try again. See if we catch a fish. Here we go. Woo! It's It's a potato. That's pretty silly. But I think this time we're definitely going to catch a fish. Here we go. And let's see. It's a fish. Yeah, a silly fish. Well, that's the end of this video, but if you want to watch more of my videos, all you have to do is search for my name. Hey, can you spell my name with me? Okay, here we go. Ready?
B L I T P I Flippy. Good job. Well, I'll see you soon. I'm gonna keep practicing. Here we go. Wait a minute. I think we got another one.
