Please steal that from an Oh no. Hi, I'm Ella. And I'm Ash. And we are here today to react to our most viral Buzzfeed videos. Wow. Which was like 10 years ago. This always makes me happy and sad. We knew during the time that it would be over one day. We I remember we talked about it. We were like, "It's going to burn bright." And then we were already singing graduation, Vitamin C's graduation. When I watch myself in videos, I'm like that baby. Yeah, I feel like I look pretty different. Yeah, I think you look pretty different.
I'm excited to dig in. I'm curious which ones they pulled up for us. We have so many viral videos. Let's dig in. All right, so the video that we're watching first, 15 things that are impossible to do gracefully. Oh, this is the first video on BuzzFeed Violet. Wow. Okay, this is the first 6 million views. This one I remember was originally an article on Buzzfeed written by Aaron Cha. And I think at that time there was this idea of like the girl who doesn't have it all together and like that was a new thing like in media. Did you edit this? Did you make this one? I made this one. Yeah. Drinking smoothies. Cool.
Always hard. Carrying f I relate to all of this. Yes. Oh my god. Receiving compliments. I'm wearing uh a dashiki. Yeah. It's an African tribal. Uh, I had only white sorority sisters and we went thrift shopping and I was like, "This is colorful and amazing." And I sat next to Quinta at BuzzFeed and I remember I walked in one day and she goes, "Ashley, what the are you wearing?" And I was like, "Isn't it great?" And she was like, "That's like sacred African. You're not supposed to wear that." Heelshu. Did we steal that from an Oh, NO. We were testing out Ned as a love interest. We were. And the audience didn't buy it. They Very preient.
They only bought Andrew. And you That's the thing. Chemistry, you can't fake it sometimes. Thank god they didn't buy that. Let's see what the top comment is. My heart broke a little. The top comment. There's a lot of comments about that. Do you guys know the top comment? My heart broke a little when Ned did not kiss his wife. 1.2K likes. I'm really getting attached to this girl. There's actually like a little beef about who started the taste tests. Technically, I did. You can look at the dates on the postit of the videos, but also claims that she started it, too. And yes, her video came out a few weeks after. Were we working on them at the same time and I'm just a faster editor? Maybe. Okay. There was trending uh secret menu hacks. McDonald's, In-N-Out. It was a big thing in the early 2000s. Yeah. That first taste test video was actually Taco Bell secret menu. It was such a hit that we immediately just had to make hundreds more. So, every video you've ever seen of us tasting things.
Yeah. Because my fault. We would secretly film in the store. That was part of the frame. Oh. And then you brought it back. And then we brought it back to the office and we just tasted it. And I There's also a big controversy with me in this video, too. I offended all of the UK because I didn't like the bacon sandwich and I said it wasn't real bacon. And apparently Oh, Canadian bacon. The bacon sandwich is like a working man's food. I insulted poor people. It was like trending on Reddit. Really? Yeah. And I got a lot of like hate comments.
Were you guys in the This is the UK office. Oh yeah. There's no head room in this video. Like what? It was a really small room. Okay. There was enough room for there to be head room. Blame Andrew. He's there, too. Yeah, that's Oh, this is the one that you insulted. Bacon roll. Yeah. That looks like garbage. Yeah. The thing is, we knew like what kind of lines we needed and you always need somebody who doesn't like things. And like you need people who like things, too. This isn't bacon, though.
I hope they know that. And everyone gets hate if you don't like some things. I didn't care. The culmination of Violet, I think we had done a hundred videos of building up these characters. The idea was always to put them in a series once everybody had gotten to know who they were. And the series was called You Do You and we released it on iTunes. Do you remember we beat the Kardashians? It was number one on iTunes for like a week. Yeah. This is So this is the trailer for the first season of Vdio written by Britney Ashley. So talented. We had a car shot. Wow. Production value.
It was my car. We put it in the thing and we spent most of our time trying to figure out how to track the green screen and Adam went out and filmed all the shots. I edited I think you edited this trailer. I remember being like a trailer is all sound effects. Look at how cool we look. Oh man, the best the most exciting part about UDU that was different than anything we got to do. Usually the thumbnails you just took them from the video like a still, but we got to do a photo shoot. Yeah. And that was really fun. Ooh. Did you produce this or is this um Yes, I produced this.
Did you produce this cuz you wanted lip injections? Cuz that was kind of the hack. Yeah. Anytime I was like, I need to get fit, I'd be like, all right, people lose weight. Yeah. I mean, here the thing is though, like it was a big thing at the time. Like no one was talking about it. Kylie Jenner was like, "Does she have lip injections? Does she not?" So, it was really trendy. So, I knew it was going to do bangers, but I also wanted to get lip injections, but you'll see that it's like I don't actually get enough to like really actually do anything. So, Oh, you and Macy went in this.
Look how different my lips look. Yeah. So, you continued to get lip injection. Yeah, I continued to get lips. I was genuinely interested in the topic and I genuinely wanted to get lip injections. I think I'm so much more insecure in this video and I wasn't doing it for the right reasons. I was doing it because I like Kylie Jenner's lips. The difference now is I know more about myself. This is this part I'm like I'm regretting everything. Really regretting it. I probably wouldn't do it again just because see it didn't really make it. You said you wouldn't do it again.
I said I wouldn't do it again. You lied. I was a liar. I was going to do it again. And in that moment, I knew I just wasn't ready to be public about it. Adam Bianke did this. It is how you see your crush versus how your crush how they actually look. Oh god. Oh yeah. I remember someone commented on this. Her hands are so veiny. And now it's a good thing. Yeah. Hydrated. No. Now people like love men's veiny hands. I remember being in a spiral for like a week and really like my hands are a baby. And then I told Adam, "Do not shoot close-ups of my hands anymore."
Love this text. You know it's Adam, too, cuz he did it widescreen. It's so Well, you see them. Oh. Oh my god. Uh I remember we put a sandbag in there so it was heavier cuz Andrew was mad that it wasn't heavy enough. Or no, there we put the sandbag. Okay, here come man hands. There. Oh, they were veiny. I do see what they mean, but like that's just what hands look like. No, apparently not. Oh, I think this was the real astronaut. We kind of like laugh. Adam, when something stupid goes horribly wrong, 7.4 million views. It's just like you get your hand stuck in something and what do you do? That's the video.
Basically, every video had to include an Astrew thing. So, this was like, okay, this is the Andrew video. And then at some point I think I ran into him. Yeah, we wanted each video if you paid attention to each one you got little like Easter eggs. It like the story continued over the course of these videos, but it was like kind of more like a sitcom. Yeah. Uh actually, can you just walk with me? The meeting is starting now. Sure. I'll carry your purse. Yeah. And then that was like that. That's so nice. He's carrying her purse. Hey guys.
Also, everyone's reaction in this was genuine. They didn't know what he was and we only had one. Yeah, we only had one bottle. So, that guy like did finance at the company. We would just pull people from their actual jobs. Getting my status report before Ashley's presentation. But first, I just need to get this bottle off of my hand. Look at the fact that it's stuck. as a We didn't plan that. I know. It's perfect though. Oh god. Oh, photoshopping real women into cover models. So yeah, I co-produced this one with Andrew Goautier. Yeah, this was viral.
We got on the Oprah show for this with Oprah. No, Andrew did it. Yeah. Nobody really knew about Photoshop, so we're like, let's show the people what can be done. This was the I remember we were using the dove like the whole kind of dove campaign of it. Oh, this the dove campaign inspired this. One weird side effect of being on camera so much is you very much see the like season 2 glow up of us because we were we were getting critiqued so much like comments about our hands, our bodies or whatever. And we were doing experiments too to be like, can we gain more muscle or can we I think every single part of my body has been commented on. And I remember we went to like a plastic surgeon to tell us what
we would look like and it still sticks with me. Yeah, it is a thing being on camera. But honestly, part of it is fun too to be able to go back and look at these seasons of yourself. So that's love hate relationship. Okay, here we go. Things Disney princess do. 15 million views. things Disney princesses that would be awkward if you did them. I already know there is a moment that in trans retrospect is so funny where I'm do you remember when I'm Mulan top comment I'm a boy holy foreshadowing I love that we did these kind of like what would you even call these like being people who are you talking like you're like being a Disney princess or you were like weren't you like Oprah and then Taylor Swift yeah I don't even know what to call this
frame fantasy. Honestly, Ella, that's something you would have done. I know. He's kind of overbearing. What do you think? You know him better than I do. Great reveal. Yeah. This is my new boyfriend. Yeah, it was done because they got him to say thanks Obama and they shut it down.
Yeah. Also, I remember they had exactly seven minutes to shoot with the president. They first said an hour and then they were like 30 and then they said 10 and we did it in seven. So, anybody who says like what's Obama doing? He should be doing more important stuff. He nailed it all in one take and it took seven minutes including our selfies. Only Barack Obama could ever be this funny as a president. He nailed it. He didn't need much direction. Like I was honestly shocked. I thought he would be really stiff. Yeah. But he wasn't. And also fun fact, the selfie stick that you see is my personal selfie stick and it's the first selfie
stick to be used by a president. They wanted it for his museum and I said no. No, you didn't say no. You mean in his presidential library? Yeah, I have it. It's my selfie stick. My mom gave it to me for Christmas. But it's history. I know. I was young. Have them. Hey, call us. I call I'll give it Obama. I'll let you have it cuz he gave healthcare. You can give him that selfie stick. I will give him the selfie stick. He did all these faces. He was He just People were also mad about the mirror. I'm like, "This is a historical mirror."

Andrew Goautier, who was our producer, drew this insane picture of Michelle Obama that we then got Barack Obama to agree to pretend that he was sketching of Michelle Obama. It's It's so stupid. Absurd. Can I live? You do you. We got it in.
YOLO. He said yolo. He did that on his own. Oh, wait. We have to I'm sorry. We have to watch one of our best friends. Oh, yeah. I think did Adam film it? So, they look kind of like artsy. Yeah, it was very Greta Gerwig. This video is so viby. It's so vibby. We were inspired by Broad City. Yeah. Of just like Abby and Alana just hanging out in New York. There's my ball again. I know. Oh, people were disgusted. But this is the thing that we did to get people upset. Yeah, we wanted people to comment about loved doing that She would purposely rage bait people to comment. I still do. Which is kind of brilliant. Love. I'm getting too old for this to watch this stuff again. It's making me too sad. I know. Wow. What a time. It was so much fun. Yeah, I missed that time. But I honestly I don't miss the stress and the grind. It was stressful, but it was fun. It was like high highs, lows, lows. You get addicted to getting views. Just need that hit.
